I have been so sick for a couple of weeks now.  I’m starting to get back on track though so watch out!  Luckily I have been the only one that it hit hard so there wasn’t anyone that had to stay home from school.  Many of days I laid on the couch after work trying to get some sleep while children did homework and tried to help with the baby.  It was proven that I have the  best husband who let me take naps and fed little ones.  I missed a week with the crowabout collage but just printed this week’s so hopefully can get back on the wagon.  I also joined my first postcard swap!  I am so nervous and excited.  Will others like my work?  Will it look silly?  When I’m done I’ll post some pics on my cards.  I am delving into watercolors for the first time.  I have had the paints but too scared to try anything. Since postcards are so small that it takes some of the scariness out.  It is being coordinated by dreamergirl

I also picked up some rocks to paint for gifts this Christmas but cannot get the paint to stick.  Any advice?   They are inspired by DancingMermaid.  I am using craft paint but I think the rocks are too smooth to hold it.  I guess I could ask her but am not ready to show my face yet.  Have you found a group of blogs that seem to be best friends and perfect?  I found Denise’s blog a while ago.  Her story and writing just struck a core in me.  While looking at her blog roll I found everyone she talks about and connects too.  To be perfectly honest, the connection that these women have is inspirational and envious.  I have never had really close friends, I know I tend to close up and be selfish with my time.

Wow, I have really bounced around here.  Have a great weekend and since it is rainy and overcast here I’m going to enjoy some hot cocoa with my girl.

back to your regular schedule

I am parcipating in Crowabout’s collage play and it is so much fun!  This is my week 4 page but it’s not finished.

sorry about the glare

And my first 3 weeks:

It’s my first real attempt at art journals and when it’s all done I’m going to bind them together.  I have a couple other projects that I’m working on but since I work at my own pace it’s a little embarrassing how far back I am.

Another thing I did this weekend was make a baby gift.  We were going to see family that we haven’t seen since she had a baby and at the last moment I thought that I should really get her a gift.  I didn’t want to go out shopping so I decided to make a small baby blanket.  I had some fleece material from when my daughter was born that I never got around to doing anything with (she’s almost 4 now..shhhh) and made a quick sqaure blanket.  I didn’t get any photos of the finished product but this is the material that I used and I’m sure you can imagine the rest.  It was about a 24″ square.

That’s about it for now I guess.  I need to save something for tomorrow.

Too many thoughts

Do you ever have too many thoughts running around?  I’m sure many of us do.  Last night when I should have been sleeping I was thinking about blog topics.  I know I have ignoring you but really, I was just preparing.  I hate to write boring stuff and I needed to get some photos.  So on to what I have been doing this past week.

Look at this nice new toy!!                 Look what I can do Mom!!                      Oh uh….

I got a late birthday present in the mail (bought by me) from The Black Apple.  I would buy everything in her store if I had the money.  I got these ones:

And I made these from a pattern by keykalou.  I just missed a sale, darn it.  Any mistakes were from my lack of knowledge, not errors on the pattern side.  I was beating myself up on the box wallet (on the right) but Jeremy reminded me that it was my first time ever doing something like this so it is to be expected.  I think I expect to know how to do things which I need to get over.

The business card wallet didn’t actually fit any business cards in it but again, my fault, not the pattern.  It does fit my ipod shuffle perfectly though so all is well.  I am going to make a matching tote from this tutorial.

When I come back I will show you the baby gift I whipped up and other fabulous news!!!
